a rainy day

RAIN...one word many definitions. It depends on the person you meet and if you ask a farmer he says it gives birth to freshly sown seeds. A doctor says don’t drain your selves. An English teacher remembers the poem or story from Shakespeare to explain it. A geography teacher tells the procedure of the formation of rain overall one-person one definition. It depends on you and what you understand. Wherever whenever you go rain is a trademark style of a romantic situation. It became a signature of Hollywood and Bollywood to cast it at least once in their movies if they are making a romantic drama. It gained an iconic place in the hearts to see our favorite couple to sing and dance in rain. And here is a narration of one such incident that I came across.

                                                               a rainy day

      “’ It’s raining Mumbai...!!’, the radio jockey shouted and continued the streets were filled with rainwater. The traffic is stuck here and there letting no one move. Meanwhile, listen to these romantic rain songs and spend your hesitant traffic waiting time with some cool and hot songs, here the one for you…..”

        INDIAN ELECTRONICS SERVICE an electronic device servicer.  The time is around 5 “o” clock. Most of the staff and employees are preparing to leave. Aryan, a youth of early thirties swinging in his chair back and forth, as he was left with some work and rest of them are leaving. His collogues had a smile and left. He turned to his work. It was around six when Aryan completed his work. He took his keys and left. In the parking slot there was only one car it's Aryan’s car. He entered and started the car but the car is not responding. He lost his patience after many trials. He decided to take a taxi home. And started to move towards the stop point where he can find cabs usually.

          It was a narrow lane. To avoid drowning in rain Aryan put himself under a tree. Just then, a cab arrived. Aryan put his hand to stop it. The cab stopped. He opened the door, at the same instant someone opened the other back door and came in. Both Aryan and the stranger sat at the same moment in the car leading the car driver into confusion. Aryan in a hurried tone “Ganapathi villas”. “Bhaisab, Asoka society” from the other end. The voice made Aryan who hasn’t seated well yet to look, it is...

                                                    [A few years back]

        During his engineering final year, Aryan had a crush on one of his classmates Anu. Anu a girl of dreams, with thick and dark eyebrows, little eyes well-designed nose, and pink juicy lips having a mole in the left corner. It is still a dream to her batch mates to take her out for a date. Aryan never expressed his love for her. Fortunately, Anu knows what Aryan thinks about her. She too never dares to say or talk about this. Finally, when Aryan decided to propose her everything went into vain. Her marriage was fixed and Aryan left with a heavy heart.

        All this came in front of Aryan eyes when he looked at his co-passenger. She was Anu. All these years he never saw her but this rainy day made them come close. He felt like to get down but his heart made him reluctant and the vehicle started. Anu stared at him at the time when he setting himself properly. No words between them. The only sound was the rain and the song played on the radio.

           His eyes were red with tears flooding. He wiped them and made him feel comfortable. He wanted to initiate a talk but stopped when he noticed tears are rolling from her eyes. The emotion of the situation increased when the driver played a classic song. Two were in no mood to speak and silence spread when the driver noticed tears in Aryan’s eyes and stopped the music. The three were traveling in an immense silence. each one is looking at the windows remembering there past. The silence was broken when the driver stopped the car and told “sir, AAP ka stop aagaya” (sir, your stop has arrived). Aryan get down the car, paid the driver, and looked at Anu. She too looked at his eyes as the car started to leave.
